All of our trainers and consultants have financial services backgrounds, with the majority having successfully run their own businesses, and therefore have real-life experience. They have a working knowledge of what it takes to make a business a success so, as well as understanding the theory, they can also draw on endless practical examples to bring a discussion to life.

Meet our team
Karen Brown QFP
Karen is an engaging, commercially aware business professional with 30+ years experience of supporting SME’s.
She holds qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Bankers, the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (training design and delivery) and is a Prince 2 Practitioner and QFP.
With excellent stakeholder and people management skills, she has a reputation for delivering significant “value add”, often when others said it could not be done, and for doing it with a smile.
Regarded as a “glass half full” person, she thrives on a challenge and her enthusiasm and vivacious personality belie tenacity and steely determination.
Chris Roberts
Chris is an experienced and qualified franchise and funding professional, providing a variety of services to Franchisees and Franchisors, including business training and consultancy, business planning and health checks, exit planning and help with funding, through three different BFA affiliated businesses, including Franchise Business Training and Consultancy Limited.
He started his business career with NatWest and became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. Following a successful career, he left in 2000 to start his own consultancy and training businesses which ultimately included Franchise Finance Limited, a joint venture, which became a top award winning provider of finance, business planning and training and which was sold to Hitachi Capital in 2018.
Chris then took up a number of non-exec, mentoring and Chairman roles and is a regular speaker at Franchise conferences and exhibitions and also contributes a variety of educational articles and blogs on business and franchise issues.
Evan Williams
After a twenty five year career with Barclays Bank PLC, where he introduced a nationwide franchise business lending proposition, Evan established a Learning Consultancy which designs and delivers workshops for several multi-national organisations and support agencies, delivering bespoke training and programmes to support their growth plans and financial aspirations.
He has also worked as a Business Consultant at Business Wales and as an Enterprise Acceleration Manager at the NatWest Enterprise Team.
Evan has reviewed thousands of business plans and investment proposals and understands the best way of securing finance for businesses of all sizes.
Alongside his current role, Evan sits as Chair for Theatr Iolo, an award-winning theatre company that performs across the globe and provides support to young, emerging talent. He is also a mentor with Arts & Business and Help to Grow.
He is an Member of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Banking & Finance.

Alfie is our Chief Motivation Officer and our occasional Therapy Dog, always on hand to listen and offer furry cuddles.
